Dear Friends: Wow - October is already half over! Barely two months until the end of the year. Have you found yourself keeping up with the goals you set earlier in the year? No? Well, it's not too late to get on track. This month's edition will contain tips and resources to help you get more organized and keep your plans. First, though I want to mention that October is "breast cancer awareness" month around the world. As my small part I will donate $2 from the sale of each copy of my "Living Life with Passion" CD. This CD contains inspiration and motivation in short true stories! In memory of my aunt Lorna who fought the breast cancer battle very courageously as long as she could - I am happy to donate $2 to breast cancer research for any purchase until the end of October. You can get your copy here now! If you live in the Fraser Valley area of British Columbia, I invite you to join me on Monday, October 17 for an evening of pampering that will benefit this worthy cause. My friends, Doreen and Jerry at the European Day Spa are having an evening of indulgence for women, that includes mini-spa treatments, demonstrations, amazing door prizes and a silent auction. Tickets must be purchased in advance - you can do it right here! For those of us in Canada - I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving! Here's a great quote I found that I think is perfect for the season: "Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some." Charles Dickens 1812-1870, Novelist
Do you ever feel distracted and unable to focus? Maybe it's email interference. A new study out of Britain indicates that constant interruption by email can lower your IQ MORE THAN SMOKING POT! Yes, it's true - by constantly checking email, responding to text messages and not staying "on task" you lost more IQ points than if you actually smoked a joint! In 80 clinical trials (of 1000 people), Dr. Glenn Wilson, a psychiatrist at King's College London University, monitored the IQ of workers throughout the day. He found the IQ of those who tried to juggle messages and work fell by 10 points -- the equivalent to missing a whole night's sleep and more than double the 4-point fall seen after smoking marijuana. So, maybe we need to only check our email a few times a day and not look at it ALL the time!
