Think Without Boundaries June 2006 Hello friends, It's been a while since I've put out the newsletter. I only publish when I feel there is lots to tell you - plus truth be told the spring has been VERY busy for me! My youngest daughter just graduated from high school so we have been busy with proms, dresses, parties, graduation ceremony and lots of fun stuff! I got a chance to spend the night - from about 6 pm - 1 am at her "dry grad" - 350 teenagers locked in their school to listen to music, karaoke, food, games, competitions and more. I was a dealer for the casino - blackjack and poker (with "pretend" money that was later redeemed for great prizes!). I had such a fun time - if you don't have any teenagers in your life I encourage you to get to know some. The kids were polite, funny and really good with my very poor gambling knowledge! I hope that your spring has been fun, full of new adventures and excitement. Keep learning, do something new and find the joy in your life.

Call for skilled volunteers – InsideArt Cooperative Board of Directors
InsideArt Cooperative ( www.insideart.ca), a trail-blazing arts marketing cooperative based in the federal prison system and owned by its artist members, is managed by Community Futures South Fraser with funding support from the Cooperative Development Initiative , ArtsNow, and Vancity. InsideArt Cooperative markets high quality art made mostly by federal inmates while fostering a culture of entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency, and encouraging the personal and professional growth of its members. A provincially registered non-profit cooperative, InsideArt exists: - to market the fine craft and art work of its members the majority of whom are federal inmates in Canada;
- to provide opportunities for members and other artisans to purchase supplies for the production of fine craft and art work;
- to provide other services that may be required for the production and sale of members’ fine craft and art work; and
- to encourage and support members to become more productive and self-reliant in the community.
InsideArt Cooperative’s vision is of federal inmates who learn the values of responsibility and self-sufficiency, and live by other means than crime and prison; who help society’s tax burden by paying personal taxes, and weaning themselves from inmate pay; who, upon their release, have less dependence on social agencies for money, food, and shelter; and who contribute meaningfully to their community as productive members of society. In its efforts to move forward with the marketing of members’ art, the cooperative is seeking to reconstitute its Board of Directors. InsideArt Cooperative is moving to an external Board of Directors composed primarily of non-inmate community members who are not selling art through the cooperative. We are seeking seven individuals with skills and interest in art marketing, business, community economic development, and/or inmate reintegration for the new Board. The Board meetings are to be held monthly or slightly less frequently, at the Community Futures South Fraser office in Abbotsford. Those interested in serving on the InsideArt Board of Directors are invited to submit details on experience/expertise, including reasons for their interest in contributing as a Board member of InsideArt. Submissions will be presented to the nomination committee for review. Kindly email your statement of qualifications, experience, and interest (or any questions) to Stacey Corriveau, InsideArt Manager
