BIO (OR HOW DO YOU 'THINK WITHOUT BOUNDARIES?')

What do you do when you've been a stay at home mom for 10 years, have three kids under the age of ten and you suddenly find yourself a divorced mom with a family to support? If your skills include having a high school education, a few university classes and knowing how to type quickly (thanks to a mom who made her take typing in high school!) you start a desk top publishing business. Within three years, the company which started as "Wee Three Publishing" (named for her three kids) became known as "The Biz Resource Group", was a thriving company in the business of helping other businesses grow and flourish.

As her desk top publishing business grew, Wendy began to think about other ways to reach more entrepreneurs. She began offering classes on topics of interest to business owners through local universities and colleges, and Chambers of Commerce. Wendy began helping a wider range of businesses create unique marketing campaigns as she worked with a variety of entrepreneurs including an Olympic athlete, doggy daycare operator, car detailer, private schools and software developer.

Seeing more opportunity for growth, Wendy decided to try *radio, and approached the local radio station with an idea for a daily radio program that would help entrepreneurs grow their businesses. A week later she had a daily radio feature called "Family Business". This program ran for 18 months, and featured daily tips and inspiration for small business owners. Wendy wrote, produced and hosted all the programs. She also went on to produce and host two live Internet radio programs.

After building her business profile online Wendy created a site that was named by the New York Times as one of the "best business sites on the 'net". She quickly became a requested speaker throughout Western Canada and as far away as California, sharing her knowledge and marketing experience with other entrepreneurs.

In 1998 her company was awarded a Business Excellence Award for "Business of the Year" by her local Chamber of Commerce, and was also a nominee for "Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year". As 1999 progressed Wendy began generating more and more clients and revenue from online sources - working both in Canada and the United States, and consulting for clients from around the globe.

Late in 1999 however, Wendy developed a serious bacterial infection (e-coli) in her spine that ate away portions of the lower three vertabrae and two discs. She spent a number of months in hospital and then two months in a body cast (from her neck to her knee) to fuse the bone fragments back together. When the cast was removed, she learned to walk again, first with various types of assistance, then without. After a number of years regaining movement, strength and stamina, in 2004 Wendy went back to work for herself.

Wendy has always lived a "Think Without Boundaries" life, and has now named her business after her philosophy. As a single parent for the past ten years, today raising three young adults she is careful to balance her family, health and work to create a life that works. As a business and personal mentor, life coach and marketing consultant she hopes to assist others to find balance in their own lives.

* This is an example of "Thinking Without Boundaries" - believing I ALREADY had the radio show I simply drove to the radio station, asked to meet the radio station's Marketing Manager (whose name I didn't know!) told him my idea for the show, and viola! a week later I HAD A SHOW!
