AWARDS As an early adopter of Internet technology, Wendy McClelland developed her first site in 1996. The "Biz Resource Site" existed until 2001 as a large resource for business owners around the globe. Within a month of launch, the site was chosen by the New York Times as "one of the best business sites on the net" (the same day Microsoft's site was chosen!)
In 1998, the Biz Resource site was given the CanadaOne TopSite award for innovative internet marketing strategies.
1999 saw McClelland receive the Business Excellence award for "New Business of the Year" (under three years) from her local Chamber of Commerce in Abbotsford, B.C.
Late 1999 Wendy developed a serious, near fatal bacterial infection which entered her spinal column and ate away portions of her lower spine. The Biz Resource Group site and company were closed at that time. After spending a number of months in hospital and then in a body cast to fuse the bone fragments, McClelland learned to walk again first with a cane, and then without assistance and to regain her strength and abilities. Finally, 2004 saw Wendy re-launch her business services with a 'work smarter - NOT harder' philosophy that sees more balance in her life, as she juggles being a single parent to three young adults, running a business and having a life! As a motivational speaker, innovative marketing strategist and author Wendy openly shares her life experiences and philosophy of "thinking without boundaries" with audiences and clients. |
